报告人简介:

Professor Maria Hrmovawas awarded her PhD degree and the Doctor Scientiarum distinguished title, bythe Comenius University and Slovak Technical University in Slovak Republic. In2012 she has been elected the member of the Learned Society of Slovak Academyof Sciences (equivalent of the Australian Academy of Science).

She is an internationallyrecognised leader in plant structural biology, and her research focuses on themolecular mechanisms that underpin the function of plant proteins in threemajor areas: (i) hydrolase and transferase enzymes involved in biology of plantcell walls (endo- and exohydrolytic enzymes); (ii) transport proteins involvedin the regulation of mineral toxicity tolerance (borate and HKT transporters,and NIP-aquaporins); and (iii) transcription factors involved in the regulationof plant responses to abiotic stresses. Professor Hrmova also develops membraneprotein production methods using cell-based and cell-free synthesis approaches,and reconstitutes these proteins in functional states in membrane mimickingenvironments. The new knowledge that her group acquires is applied to plant biotechnology,and functional and structural genomics. Her works has been featured on 20 frontcovers in Plant Cell, Plant Biotechnology Journal, Plant Molecular Biology,Journal of Experimental Botany, FEBS J, Cellular and Molecular Life Science, andbook covers. Professor Hrmova has published 135 peer-reviewed articles (62 inthe last ten years) with an H-index of 41.
